One of our fantastic clients has asked for a “Quintessential Williamsburg, VA” feel in his space, which includes a living room, kitchen, foyer and guest bedroom. His request definitely meant some antique and/or vintage pieces were in order, so we’ve spent the past month scouring the area for unique finds. Mixing old and new pieces will add so much charm to his home.
There are some amazing places to go antique shopping in the DC area, but our favorite by far has been Kensington Antique Row in Kensington, MD. This area is touted as “the DC metropolitan area’s largest and oldest antiquing center,” so it was definitely on the must visit list. We found some wonderful treasures for our client, including this beautiful antique serpentine dresser for the guest room.
Many people might have chosen to overlook the dresser. It had a water stain on top and the dents and scratches often found on an antique furniture, but we knew that it just needed a little bit of love to bring it back to life. That’s where our friend Jimmy Romero, a furniture restoration expert, came in. This past weekend, Jimmy spent almost three hours restoring the dresser to its former beauty.
The dresser and matching mirror look incredible and we can't wait to share it with our client this week. We'll share install photos soon so that you can see the piece in its entirety, as well as in the space.
Meanwhile, if you have a piece of furniture you would like to restore, please contact Jimmy at firstname.lastname@example.org or 703-482-1862. He's the best!
