If you'd ask me a few years ago what colors I didn't like, purple would have been among those colors. I just wasn't a fan. Suddenly, though, I feel like I am having this love affair with purple. I just opened this month's issue of House Beautiful and they have the most gorgeous house designed by Mary McGee. The palette - "from lilac to lavender to deep violet" - was inspired by the homeowner's favorite hue. Check out some of this gorgeous rooms!
Purple is actually incredibly versatile. It works with the bold black and white as in Mary McGee's designs (although you have to be careful with this look, or it can start to look at little 1980's...). And it works beautifully when paired with other colors like emerald green.
Or corals and deep burgundies as in this Kelly Wearstler space (LOVE THIS!).
Purple also looks incredible when paired with warm grays, browns and natural wood tones.
Here are a few purple pieces that have caught my eye recently.
