Hello Sunshine

Andrea MaaseideComment

It all started with this little, yellow, vintage vase I found at a local Vienna shop, Pear Tree Cottage.  "It" being my obsession with  yellow.

I know it looks huge here, but t's so tiny and cute (like 5" high).  The owner said she found it at one of the many estate sales she attends.

Whether it is for interiors, fashion, art.... anything, I am loving it.  It must be the weather, right? It's just been so dreary and COLD that I am craving warmth and sunshine.

The thing is, I like yellow in small doses... accents, really.  I don't want the whole image to scream yellow.  Just a few touches of it here and there to brighten the space up.  Just a pinch of yellow, as in these interiors, does wonders.

This whole space is awesome.  I love the eclectic look.  It's those yellow chairs, though, that really finish it off. {Via Domaine Home.}

I LOVE this yellow barn door! It's perfect. {Via Houzz.}

Without those yellow stools, this space would have a completely different feel.   {Via Pinterest}

The soft yellow in this wallpaper was threaded through the rest of our client's bedroom with a few choice yellow accents.  Reveal pictures coming soon!

While out and about (or in and on screen), yellow is definitely catching my eye.  While we were at the Design Center yesterday with a lovely client searching for the perfect historical wallpapers (more on that trip in another post), like a moth to a flame, I was attracted to anything yellow.  Two of my favorite finds yesterday were at Holland & Sherry:

We spotted Galbraith and Paul's Lotus pattern in a springy yellow and green.  Yes, please!

And Christopher Farr's (also at Holland and Sherry) mouth-watering "Ravenna" wallpaper.

Bold yellow (just the right amount) is lovely in fashion, too.  After I left the Design Center, I had to swing by the Apple Store to get my iPhone fixed (for the second time in three days, but that's another story) and I spotted these two beauties in Nordstrom.

I had to throw this piece by the super duper talented local artist, Maggie O'Neill, because of that yellow!  Unfortunately this piece is no longer for sale, but I'm crossing my fingers that she decides to have prints/giclees made from this one. I really (really) adore this one!
