Inspiration: On Track

I'm always thinking about ways to create more privacy in my home office and I love the idea of a "barn door".  It's a simple solution when in need of a door.  You don't have to deal with a contractor breaking in to walls to create pocket doors and it creates privacy while preserving space since you don't have to accommodate a door swing.  And really, barn doors can become a beautiful point of visual interest in the wall.  No art needed!

There are so many different types of doors you can use on a a track.  Using antique doors is a way to bring a bit of history and character in to your home.  And the hunt can be lots of fun!

Second Chance Inc. up in Baltimore is filled with inventory of doors... "some standard and some unique".

The Washington Post highlighted a few other architectural salvage venues around the area, including Old House Parts in Front Royal, and Habitat for Humanity Restore where you have to be "willing to dig."

For an even more rustic look, live edge doors and wood doors - including reclaimed barn doors - are perfect.

The Strong Oaks Woodshop out in Manassas is a wonderful source for custom live edge and reclaimed wood doors.  Their Etsy shop is filled with some wonderful selections.

Wood in it's natural, unstained state can always be very beautiful.

I am always drawn towards the colorful barn doors that are all over Pinterest. What a great way to bring a splash of color in to a space!

Barn doors can also be very practical providing space for message boards and the like.

These sliding doors can also provide privacy while still allowing light to filter through.
